Porto San Giorgio, in Marche Region, is situated on the Adriatic coast. Its economy is based on seaside tourism, maritime and commercial activities. The name of the city is dedicated to San Giorgio: legend has it that the saint appeared to some sailors who, in the midst of a storm, saved themselves thanks to him.

The city is divided into districts: the most modern, so-called Marina which is between the station and the sea, has squares, gardens and small villas. In 1985 “Marina di Porto San Giorgio”  was inaugurated with the tourist – fishing port and its 774 berths for boats.
